Zach Freeman (+600) upsets Aaron Pico (-1000)

Submission (guillotine choke), Round 1

Bellator 180: Sonnen vs Silva — 6/24/2017

Aaron Pico entered this bout being touted as “the best prospect in MMA history” and “the next MMA superstar” by major sports websites like ESPN. While those claims were hyperbolic to say the least, Pico did have real potential on paper considering his wrestling and boxing backgrounds. In what was supposed to be a classic showcase bout, Pico made his professional MMA debut vs an unknown journeyman named Zach Freeman.

The bout was over as as soon as it started. Pico confidently marched forward until he ran into a glancing knee following by a clean uppercut that dropped him to his knees. The debutant then shot for desperation takedown and fell right into a guillotine. After a brief scramble, he was forced to tapout just 24 seconds into the opening stanza.

Opening line: +370 — Pinnacle
